The goal of this course is to develop the students’ English receptive and communication skills to a CEFR C1 level. Students attain and practice using the skills necessary for effective and accurate participation in their future health sciences careers. This course offers students the opportunity to communicate professionally with patients and other health practitioners in a variety of simulated health sciences work situations, read authentic texts in different health care contexts, and write several professional-level medical genre texts. It includes a writing/speaking capstone individual or group project on a topic of choice.

The student through presenting their research to their colleagues in the form of a lecture, acquire the skills of teaching, communication and critical evaluation of research presented. This course is designed as a capstone research course for CLS major. It can also serve as a Research Methods course for undergraduates in other programs, or for beginning graduate students. Students will focus on developing skills of gathering research information and presenting them in an advanced way.

This course is designed as a capstone research course for CLS major. It can also serve as a Research Methods course for undergraduates in other programs, or for beginning graduate students. Students will focus on designing an individual research project or thesis in coordination with a faculty mentor. The course will provide real world active learning assignments that seek to integrate the knowledge and skills gained through undergraduate course work, and will prepare you for graduate and professional level projects. This course emphasizes applying integrated knowledge toward activities that enhance professional and research career opportunities. The course is writing intensive and will focus on scientific writing, and the oral, written, and graphical presentation of data and research results.

The objective of this course is to present new information on the biotechnical and molecular aspects of Microorganisms while retaining the fundamentals of eukaryotic cell and prokaryotic cell. In addition, the course offers important laboratory skills regarding microbial disease, some caused by one species and some by several.

Clinical Rotation in Molecular Diagnostics introduces the student to the manual and automated nucleic acid extraction (DNA or RNA), end point and real time PCR and DNA sequencing. The trainee will be acquainted with nucleic acid testing (NAT) of blood donors, detection of infectious diseases and some hereditary diseases.
