Mental Health is one of the most important components in the health of the individual. The focus is more on the physical aspect of health ignoring the other domains that contribute tremendously to the overall wellbeing of the individual. The issue of mental health has been a taboo mainly due to the stigma and stereotype attached to individuals with mental illnesses.
However, in today’s outlook on health there has been a growing awareness of the importance of mental health and the wellbeing of the individual.
WHO has taken an important initiative in the area of promoting management by observing the World Mental Health Day.
The World Mental Health Day is observed on the 10th of October of every year.
The overall main objective is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
The Mohammad Al-Mana College of Health Sciences celebrated the world mental health on the 10th of October, 2017. The theme for this year: “MENTAL HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE”.
Poor mental health in the workplace is one of the biggest health issues today. It is inclusive of all mental health problems, from the most commonly experienced symptoms of stress and anxiety to the more complex mental health conditions. This could have a huge impact on the individual employee to the group and ultimately reduces the productivity of the organization as a whole.
The goal of this year’s theme is to target the focus of the employees on the importance of good mental health in the workplace.

The nursing students taking the Psychiatric Nursing Course at MACHS celebrated this day. They displayed educative materials, of their own preparation, in the form of posters, video presentations, brochures and health teaching.
